Why Should Anyone Buy LEO?

Owning LEO is owning a key utility asset for an evolving Web3 ecosystem. In the past, we've talked many times as a community about what LEO is, how it should be utilized and who should own it. Over time, it has become abundantly clear that owning LEO is owning a scarce asset that represents utility, value capture and governance power in our ecosystem.

LEO represents so much more than just a rewards currency or just a bridge currency or just a liquidity pool asset. What you see throughout this whitepaper is the evolution of INLEO as an ecosystem and the simultaneous evolution of LEO as a Web3 Ecosystem Asset.

The fundamentals of LEO are built around value capture on the INLEO platform. Ad Revenue, Leo Premium, Leo Subscriptions and other value capture methods all bring value back into the LEO token. Dive into the section labeled "The LEO Token Economy" for more details on tokenomics and value capture.

What is the Difference Between LEO, wLEO, bLEO and pLEO?

The entire INLEO ecosystem is built with the LEO token at the heart of everything. LEO is our native token on the Hive blockchain where it can be earned via content creation/curation and staking in your inleo.io wallet.

  • wLEO is a wrapped version of the LEO token on Ethereum

  • bLEO is a wrapped version of the LEO token on the BNB Smart Chain (BSC)

  • pLEO is a wrapped version of the LEO token on the Polygon Blockchain

What is the LEO Token's Role in the Project?

When INLEO first launched in July 2019, we built everything around the LEO token itself. The fundamental mission of INLEO is to build a thriving creator economy that is centered around digital ownership, tokenization and communities. To build a thriving creator economy, we've built a model around the LEO token that captures value from various revenue streams as INLEO scales its userbase.

The wrapped versions of LEO (wLEO, bLEO, pLEO) also allow LEO to be a bridge asset to other blockchains. Users on Hive do not currently have a way to swap/migrate any assets (HIVE, HBD or L2 tokens like LEO) to other blockchains. LEO has created a bridge ecosystem where anyone can convert HIVE, HBD or any other Hive-based L2 tokens into LEO, bridge that LEO to Ethereum, BSC or Polygon and then swap for any other asset. The LeoBridges have become a staple in this manner and collect a small bridge fee on every TX, creating another source of value capture for the LEO Token.

LEO, wLEO, bLEO and pLEO all carry the same value as they can be instantly wrapped or unwrapped into the native equivalent using the wallet UI or (recommended).

As more users, traffic, subscribers and premium members roll in, the LEO token amasses value from the attention, monetization and usage of the platform. Ad revenue from traffic buys LEO. LeoPremium collects revenue and buys LEO. LeoSubscriptions does the same. Read more about this in the Section.
